Revolutionary War Rations featured at the Wilcox House

Step back in time at the Wilcox House!

Join early American historian Dennis Picard as he brings Revolutionary War food and cooking to life during special programs at the Wilcox House in the West Granby Historic District.

In "The Victualler's Dilemma and The Commissary's Challenge," you'll discover how soldiers of the Continental Army survived harsh winter encampments in Connecticut, the foods they ate, and the creative ways they prepared meals with limited supplies. Dennis will share fascinating stories from soldiers' diaries and memoirs and display examples of period rations and dishes.

The program begins at 10:30 on August 22, and on September 12 he will speak at both 10:30 and 12:30. The Wilcox House is at 145 Simsbury Road, West Granby. There is no charge for admission.
