Paintings During This Period:

In 1870 Shattuck bought a farm in West Granby Connecticut. It is here that he raised prize sheep and cattle. H.W. French's 1879 book of Artists in Connecticut cites the following “the artist is a faithful student of his art, and at present makes a specialty of sheep and cows, where he excels many and is excelled by few”. This period is also filled with local Granby scenes.
